This week, I am sharing more background information regarding my book, along with a video trailer. In addition, I am very pleased to feature a book by a wonderful author and new friend, Cynthia D. Jones, titled “The Melody of Marriage”.
I have also incorporated a new section into my newsletter, called What’s on Your Mind?…Enjoy!
Background Information:
The first chapter of my book, My Story, shares the story of my childhood, growing up in a loving family of four in Michigan. My daddy was a storyteller and kept us all intrigued with the many tales he told to us about growing up in the beautiful valley of Roanoke, VA. Mama was a loving, generous person who helped every shut-in she could find. She was an excellent cook and spent many days cooking delicious meals for their church, Westminster Church of Detroit. My brother, Troy was funny and generous with his time and assets. He loved sports and maintained many of the same friends from childhood through adulthood. He loved Hip Hop music and telling/hearing funny stories. He played football for Benedictine High School in Detroit, MI and was the captain of the football team his senior year. I included a couple of photos below.

Featured Author: Cynthia D. Jones – “The Melody of Marriage”
About the Author
I am Motown-born and bred, and I have loved music since I came out of my mother’s womb! But more than music, I have a passion and motivation to strengthen, mentor and teach married couples to find fulfillment and mutual satisfaction in every area of their marriages. My first book, “The Melody of Marriage”, allows me to combine these two loves. it provides readers with a refreshingly new and contemporary way to look at marriage.
I have been married for 46 years to Minister Quentin “Q” Jones. Together, we have hosted and spoken at retreats, conferences, and workshops from coast to coast for over 35 years. Currently, we are co-founders of ‘Real Talk”, a small group for married couples. It is a joy to encourage these couples to draw closer to the Lord as well as to strengthen and mature in their marriages by God’s design.
About the Book
“The Melody of Marriage,” takes readers on a musical journey through the Biblical book, “The Song of Solomon”, written by King Solomon. It is an intimate look into his courtship, wedding, honeymoon and relationship with a Shulamite woman. They even give you an inside glimpse into how they manage conflict in their relationship.
I offer four Biblical principles necessary to have that vibrant, mutually fulfilling marriage of your dreams – Christ, Connection, Communication and Commitment. To assist in my teaching, I include interactive questions, personal examples, and assignments to be shared either by couples or in small groups.
Here is the distinction that sets “The Melody of Marriage” apart from traditional books on marriage. I use contemporary song titles for each chapter including, “Let’s Stay Together”, “Endless Love”, “Fortunate” and many others. Marvin Gaye, Tammi Terrell, Stevie Wonder, James Taylor, and Luther Vandross are some of the familiar artists whose songs I have used and integrated into each chapter.
“The Melody of Marriage ” will help all engaged, newly-married and even those of us who have been married for years, to grow, renew, and be reminded that God created all things well. I open up The Song of Solomon, to my readers and teach them that in this passionate song of married love, God has given us all the tools we need to have an “Always and Forever” love.

Thank you for your support and prayers…until next week…
“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:6-7 (NIV)
Kelli,
This is one of my favorite scriptures.
