October/November 2025 - My Story!

Dear Friends and Family,

I hope you are excited about the upcoming holidays!

I delayed this newsletter so I could devote time to working on some exciting site and business changes, thus the combined October and November issue. The December issue will also be combined with January, due to the holiday season.

This issue kicks off with my personal story. It is a bit lengthy, but it will help you understand the catalyst for my writing career and the reason for my recent site changes.

Enjoy… Happy Thanksgiving!

In This Issue:

  1. My Story
  2. Book Review
  3. Hobby Corner

1. My Story

Many of you know me as a children’s book author. However, others subscribed to my newsletter after I released my first book, a memoir, in 2023.

My memoir, Unimaginable Loss… Godly Transformation, tells the story of the loss of three very close family members within six months of each other in 2021. It also includes a grief journal to help others who are grieving. This traumatic event was the catalyst for my writing career.

Earlier this year, in collaboration with Monica Violet Joy Productions, I released my first children’s book, I Don’t Think So! Monica has devised and produced hit series such as Blue’s Clues, SpongeBob and CoComelon, just to name a few.  Monica also acted as the art director and editor for the book. This collaboration resulted in a beautifully illustrated book that helps encourage young children who struggle with shyness to step outside their comfort zone.

After the release of I Don’t Think So!, my site was modified to prominently feature this book and my memoir faded into the background.

Recently, I decided to begin speaking about loss again, something I have found to be both needed and rewarding. As a result, I pondered the idea of creating two sites… One featuring my memoir and another my children’s books. However, a friend pointed out something I could not see for myself… Both my children’s books and memoir are about Overcoming and the two can co-exist.

Therefore, my site was recently updated with a new homepage that prominently displays my story, my purpose and provides users with the choice to access two different landing pages.

With this in mind, welcome to my new site, focused on Overcoming, whether it’s shyness and unfavorable social characteristics (my future children’s books in the series) or loss (my memoir)…

Many of you will be pleased to know that this newsletter will continue to be devoted to my children’s books in anticipation of some exciting new developments on this side of my business.

2. Book Review

One of my favorite reviews featured during my Virtual Awareness Tour of I Don’t Think So!, hosted by The Children’s Book Review was written by AvainBookland, a Mother/daughter duo with a wonderful Instagram channel.

Check it out Here! and below.

We really liked this picture book and my mom thinks I am like Mia (she’s not wrong 😅). Trying new things isn’t always easy like we see in the book but if we use some imagination trying new things might not be so bad. This is a really great picture book. I also like the colorful illustrations.

3. Hobby Corner

Last month, I featured photos of my interior fall decorations. This month, I’m including a couple of  exterior photos showing my front porch during the day and night… Enjoy!

In January, I’ll feature pictures from the Holiday Season!
