July 2024 -"A Brief Pause"
Dear Friends and Family,
Hello, I hope everyone is having an enjoyable summer!
I know it’s been quite a while since we last connected. I felt compelled
to take a “pause” for a bit as I contemplated the road I should take on
my writing journey. Many of you know, a lot has happened during this
“pause”.
First of all, I should clarify that “pause” is intentionally enclosed by quotation marks for a reason. That’s because during my time of reflection, I wrote two new manuscripts, and I am wrapping up a screenplay.
Let me explain…
Why the Change?
I have always loved compelling fictional storytelling. Two of my
favorites are “It’s a Wonderful Life”, and the book, All the Light We
Cannot See by Anthony Doerr. In my opinion, these are stories that are
not only entertaining, but profile strong character development and
lead characters who personify goodness despite the challenges they
face.
I also love fictional stories that feature time travel, murder mysteries
and elements of fantasy. Some of my favorites include “The Time
Traveler’s Wife”, “The Goonies”, “Nancy Drew” and the book, The Lake
House by Kate Morton.
What’s Changed?
With all that said, I have begun writing fictional novels and it’s truly my
passion. My wonderful and talented editor suggested I pursue turning one of my manuscripts (Our Selfless Journeys) into a feature film. Therefore, I am wrapping up the first step, which is writing the screenplay.

The “Books” section of my site (button below) includes synopses of my two
manuscripts, along with an edited excerpt of Our Selfless Journeys. Queries of this manuscript have been sent to multiple agents. I received extremely positive feedback regarding it from various agents and I’m waiting on God to connect my novel with the right one.
I plan to check in with you monthly regarding updates.
Enjoy!
Prayer Request:
Please continue to pray for those who are grieving.

Thank you for your support and prayers…
Wow, I’m thrilled to hear about your incredible achievements! Turning your book into a screen play is a milestone accomplishment and it’s really inspiring to me to see you embrace your creativity and passion after an already distinguished career. You’ve always been a hard worker and I can’t wait to see where your journey takes you.
P.S. I also enjoyed “The Light We Cannot See”, it was one of our book club favs too; you may enjoy a book that offered me lessons that challenged my concepts on the transformative power of unconditional love, “Tattoos on the Heart: The Power of Boundless Compassion” by Gregory Boyle…
Ann, it’s so good to hear from you! Thank you so much for the uplifting comments. Our book club read “All the Light We Cannot See” as well and were very much impacted by it. I am going to add “Tattoos on the Heart…” to the top of my TBR list. Thanks for the recommendation. All the best to you and Tommy!
